Born in the ancient city of Byblos to parents of Armenian descent, Andre Kalfayan is a phenomenal talent. Over the years, he has amassed a truly unique portfolio, perhaps mostly distinguished through his paintings of antique doors, windows, and balconies. His masterpieces speak directly to Lebanese, Middle Eastern, and Mediterranean citizens and immigrants, yet further resonate with a universal audience.
One defining feature of Andre’s drawings is his technique of blending Earthly colors in a palette and gracefully painting with blades, pins, and brushes. You recognize a “Kalfayan painting” even before checking for his signature.
Andre is a recipient of the 2018 BIAF award for Best Lebanese Artist, among other national and international prizes. Over the years, he has garnered recognition from leading journals, universities, institutes, and beyond. You will find his drawings all over the world in Lebanese Embassies, restaurants, museums, and hopefully your living room!
